Meet Min
I believe that growth happens when we feel understood, accepted, and supported. For children, play is a natural and meaningful way to express feelings, work through big emotions, and make sense of the world around them. I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable being themselves, exploring their emotions, and discovering their strengths at their own pace.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with ten years of experience supporting students from kindergarten through high school and into their first year of college. Throughout my work, I have enjoyed helping individuals navigate the challenges of growing up, from building self-esteem and confidence to strengthening friendships, managing disagreements, and navigating relationships with family and peers. I also value helping clients develop the skills to identify and understand their emotions, communicate their feelings and needs, advocate for themselves, and build positive relationships with peers, parents, and teachers.
My therapeutic approach is warm, patient, playful, and collaborative. I incorporate child-centered play therapy (CCPT) and expressive approaches, including sandtray, art, and other forms of play, to help children explore their emotions, express themselves, and work through challenges in ways that feel natural to them. I provide developmentally appropriate, evidence-based support tailored to each client's unique strengths, needs, and goals. I also draw from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), adapting these approaches to support emotional awareness, communication, confidence, and resilience. I recognize the important role parents and caregivers play in a child's growth and value working collaboratively with families to support the skills and progress children develop in therapy.

More About Min's Work
I believe that meaningful growth is supported by connection, understanding, and positive relationships. Each person's experiences are shaped by their relationships, family, and surrounding environment, and I value taking the time to understand each client's unique perspective. By recognizing individual strengths and fostering connection, I strive to help clients develop a stronger sense of self, build confidence in their abilities, and feel more equipped to navigate life's challenges.
One of the things I value most about being a counselor is getting to know each client as an individual. I enjoy discovering their unique personalities, interests, and ways of experiencing the world, and I adapt my approach to help each person feel comfortable and connected in therapy. I bring warmth, patience, playfulness, and authenticity into my work, striving to create a space where clients feel accepted for who they are and supported as they grow, develop new skills, and discover their strengths.
