Grace Francour, LPC, NCC

Meet Grace

Our world can feel hectic and overwhelming. Therapy is a space where you can take a moment to just be.  The therapeutic relationship is foundational to creating an environment in which you feel safe enough to reflect and grow, so building an accepting and supportive connection is of the utmost importance to me. Whether through play or talk therapy, I am committed to assisting you in your journey towards growth.

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.

-  Carl Rogers

I am a person/child-centered therapist with experience working with young children, adolescents, emerging adults, and parents and caregivers struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, life-transitions, self-esteem concerns, OCD, trauma, anger, and general behavioral issues.  My work is highly collaborative and is built on trust - I trust that you are the expert on you or your child and I am here to offer strategies, skills, and support.  The foundation of my practice is rooted in the person-centered belief that all people will strive towards growth when in the right environment. My goal is to understand your world through your perspective and support you in creating the change you want to see while learning or maintaining a self-compassionate mindset.

Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning.

-  Fred Rogers

More About Grace's Work

My passion is for play therapy, and I also utilize CBT, goal-oriented and relational approaches when appropriate. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Illinois and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) working towards my Play Therapy Certification under the supervision of Jessica Bloom, LCPC,  RPT-S. I have experience working in autism clinics, community-based mental health, and group private practices since graduating from Georgia State University with a Master's of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with a focus on Play Therapy.

When working with parents and caregivers, I take a highly collaborative approach. We will work together as a team to find what works best for your family and your child, as each individual has unique needs. My work with parents and caregivers pulls primarily from positive discipline, developmental, and attachment-based approaches.
